Why are you changing the OLD BAY cans from tin to plastic?
* This transition will reduce carbon emissions by 16 percent and bring us closer to achieving our sustainability goals. Also, the new plastic can is easier to use – from pouring to measuring – and has a new freshness seal to keep this one-of-a-kind seasoning tasting great.
When will the cans be in stores?
You will begin to see the new packaging in your local OLD BAY retailers in November of this year.
Will OLD BAY taste the same?
ABSOLUTELY. The OLD BAY you have been using on your crabs, shrimp, fish, French fries, salad, chicken and pizza [by no means an exhaustive list of uses] will taste exactly the same. No change to the taste, just the same perfect blend of 18 herbs and spices that add a bold flavor to anything you dare to put it on.
Why did you add a freshness seal to this can? Was the OLD BAY I bought before this change stale?
Given the decision to change from tin to plastic, we took the opportunity to make additional improvements to the overall packaging. The addition of a flavor-fresh seal will ensure that our special blend of herbs and spices will remain fresh until you are ready to use it. Consumers who tested the new packaging stated that they believe the new lid is easier to use and provides a tighter seal.
What other changes are you making to OLD BAY?
There are no other changes. The OLD BAY you have loved for so many years is exactly the same awesome blend of 18 herbs and spices.
Are tins of OLD BAY still available?
OLD BAY fans will not see the new packaging in their local retailers until November of 2017, so you should be able to find the iconic OLD BAY tin in a location near you. You can also find the iconic OLD BAY tins through a wide array of online retailers, including Jet.com, Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Target.com, etc.
